The Local Area
The Isle of Seil is one of the Slate Islands, located on the east side of the Firth of Lorn, 7 miles southwest of Oban.
The very shape of the landscape around it has been transformed by the now void slate industry that lasted for centuries and which led to the term: "the islands that roofed the world".
Seil is an interesting island, and one of remarkable contrasts; plus a history that adds greatly to its fascination. The natural landscape, wildlife and coastline adds to its beauty.
